Lady Frankenstein or Tina Makes a Monster

Tina-Frankenstein

This image is part of our original website at willceau.com, but I wanted to drag it back out again; dust it off; put it on display and talk a little about it. Tina created this back in the ’90s and it represents the bridge between her analog and digital work. She created the collage by selecting disparate images from her many clipart books, photocopying the various pieces to size and painstakingly cutting the art out with an X-acto knife. The pieces were then glued to a piece of bristol. From there she would get a film positive done and paint the reverse side with gouache. That’s the way she would do it, but we were entering the digital era. She scanned the pasted artwork into her brand new Power Mac 7300 and “painted” the colors with Photoshop 4.0.

It’s alive!
